Pasta Arrabbiata: A Classic Italian Dish with a Spicy Kick

Welcome to Our Kitchen

We’re excited to share with you our favorite recipe for Pasta arrabbiata. This fiery sauce originates from Rome, and its blazing red color matches its hot, spicy flavor. Let’s get cooking!

Ingredients

  • 500g of Pasta (Penne or Spaghetti)
  • 2 tbsp of Olive oil
  • 3 cloves of Garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp of Red pepper flakes (or more if you like it super spicy)
  • 1 can of Crushed tomatoes
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • A handful of Fresh Basil
  • Grated Pecorino or Parmesan (optional)

Preparation

  1. Boil the pasta in a large pot of salty water until it is al dente. Drain it and set it aside while keeping a cup of the pasta water.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, heat the oil in a saute pan. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, and stir until the garlic is golden.
  3. Add the crushed tomatoes, season with salt and pepper, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes.
  4. Add the drained pasta to the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add some of the reserved pasta water.
  5. Garnish the dish with fresh basil and some grated pecorino or parmesan cheese before serving.
